I know how you feel, but I don't think you should feel obligated to buy her anything, especially when the gesture isn't reciprocated. You allow her to spend time with The Boy and be a part of his life; that's enough.
UGH! Mother's Day is not that much fun for single moms by choice. Well it's actually it is fun--like every other day we have our blessings. But it's not special the way it is for other moms. Sorry your situation stinks this year. Hope you can treat yourself. (Last year, I bought myself a yummy breakfast--and had seconds!)
Yeah, that does suck. I don't think you need to buy her anything. If he wants, let him make her something. We don't buy anything for each other on Mother's Day, we just have lunch together as a family at a place that is special to us. We have discussed how we won't buy each other gifts, but rather have our kids (as they get older) create something or do something to celebrate - something they want for their moms, not us choosing for them.
