But yes, my son has struggled with this his entire life (and still continues to do so). The medicine they put him on is actually an antihistamine but they have found that it has the (fortunate) side effect of stimulating appetite. However since it IS a side effect, it only "works" for a few months and then the side effect goes away. So he goes on it for a few months, and then goes off of it for another few months, and then back on again so the "side effect" is present again. It's called Cyproheptadine or the more common name is Periactin. There's all kinds of info on it if you google it. Hope this helps! For the Long Haulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05844179491237413679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194386970975164367.post-63370316563933586932011-08-25T12:06:42.207-07:002011-08-25T12:06:42.207-07:00First let me say good for you for deciding to go b...First let me say good for you for deciding to go back on the meds!
Other than that, glad to hear from you and glad to hear it's mostly well.

And now, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a question. I have a 4 yr niece who is way to thin, very much under the charts (she is just skin & bones. and putting on her sun lotion - scary!). She just does not like to eat. She can like have five bites from a corn on the cob and that will be enough for her. I told my sister (her mum) about your blog as I remembered you talked once about something to get The Boy's apeptite up (but couldn't find it), I see you talk now about appetite stimulating medication. Can you elaborate on it? Thanks!Billyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02344488411103420236noreply@blogger.com
